85mm of front
suspension also glides
over cracks, fissures,
gravel and ruts
any time – and the extraordinary geometric
magic in the turn, offer confidence in the
front end equal to anything I have ever
ridden. 85mm of front suspension also
glides over cracks, fissures, gravel and ruts
with unnerving smoothness. Yes it has a
look that mutters “training wheels” in my
head, but look past that and the ride is
astounding.
Yeah, but can you lean it into the corner?
Damn right, even knee-draggers are going
106 KIWI RIDER
to be very surprised at how far this will go.
Cornering is nothing short of revelatory,
and one can be forgiven for thinking
there are rails under this thing. Stability
is remarkable. At the speed limit on a
motorway I was subjected to a blustery,
pulsing 50km/h side wind, and given the
MP3’s bulk I expected to be pushed around,
but the tracking stayed dead true and
stable. The ‘tripod effect’ means the grip
and direction is arrow straight and agile.
