I genuinely like the way the triumph handles. It feels confident in the turns, planted to the road and reasonably agile. The 19-inch front wheel size is a good choice for the Scrambler, because it grips well on tarmac, allowing for great feel in the turns while giving extra stability and confidence for gravel work. The commanding riding position with straight high-ish bars and comfortable, sensible all- round ergonomics definitely contribute to its effortless handling and general competence. A traditionally-styled speedo with an inserted LCD screen shows the information clearly. There are all the usual warning lights, plus you can scroll through and select info on fuel range, clock, trips, fuel consumption and rpm. Our test machine had some extras that gave the bike a lift in functionality and looks. It came with an alloy bash-plate, pillion seat, headlight guard, USB socket, levers, crossbar pad and front mud guard/flap. Overall the Triumph Street Scrambler is very much fit for purpose. It does what its designed to do exceptionally well and doesn’t pretend to be anything it’s not. All the differing facets that need to come together in unison to make a bike great, have; it has balance! The power, suspension, brakes and handling all complement each other by having very good and matching levels of performance (for an example of a bike not in balance, imagine a 220hp Superbike with a single small front drum brake and super skinny hard compound tyres). In short the Street Scrambler is great fun, practical, comfortable and surprisingly capable. Well done Triumph. KIWI RIDER 67
