Upholstery gun made it easy
Seat foam glued in place
very satisfying about using an air-powered staple gun , definitely more so than my lever action staple gun . The seat cover isn ’ t waterproof , so they supply a plastic sheet to wrap around the foam , underneath the cover . Getting this into place and keeping it out of the way while trying to pull the cover and staple it in place is quite tricky - even the guy in the video looks like he ’ s fighting it a little , so I didn ’ t feel bad that it was getting in my way . It probably took about an hour to get the cover in place without any wrinkles , and quite a bit of that was being hesitant to put staples in at the start until it seemed to sit just right . Then I worked out it was ok , I could just take a staple out , re-adjust the cover and staple it again . I reckon it ’ s turned out well . An upholstery airpowered staple gun makes it very easy to pop the staples into the narrow bits . I ’ m got to be riding the 360km BMW GS Rallye gravel route this coming week to test it out and see how much difference it ’ s made to comfort levels . Then I ’ ll see if it needs re-tensioning once it all settles in . I ’ ll report back in a couple of weeks time and let you know how I get on .
