Beta ’ s RR300 Racing has been a great bike for the last few years - so good that I bought one , a 2022 model . For 2024 the RR300 Racing has seen some big updates . There ’ s a new frame , a funky twin plug ignition system and some ergonomic changes to the plastics . I ’ m a big fan of the way Beta ’ s bikes look . They never disappoint in that regard and I like the new 2024 colourway with the blue front transitioning into red at the rear of the bike , it really makes the shape of the bike stand out . I got to test the new RR300 Racing over a variety of terrain from tight single track to fast-paced , open tracks , which gave me a great idea of how well the bike performs across the different scenarios that most riders are likely to come across .
COMPONENTS The stock Beta grips are comfortable after a few hours of riding . I didn ’ t develop any blisters , I would certainly consider using them again if replacement was required . The footpegs from previous Racing models have been carried onto this new model , which I ’ m pleased to see - these are some of the best pegs that come on a production bike out of the factory . It ’ s normally something most of us would be looking to upgrade to get a wider platform and more grip , but these are really good . The placement of the gear shifter and rear brake are a comfortable distance from the ‘ pegs and they ’ re easily reachable without having to change foot position too much , allowing you to hold that strong attack position on the bike . I ’ m not a fan of the ‘ bars , they ’ ve got an uncomfortable sweep and I didn ’ t really get used to them over the course of the test . They ’ re something I ’ d change if it was my bike . The brakes are by Nissin , regarded as some of the best on the market . Both the front and rear are super-touchy / sensitive with a small buffer of modulation , but that ’ s something I like when needing to lose speed quickly for a turn or descent . You may like that feel , you may not .
RIDING This new generation Beta 300 has really slimmed down in profile compared to my 2022 Beta
