The terrain is a good mix of forest and open trails , but as the soil is full of pumice , any rain soaks in quickly and leaves the trails with loads of traction and little dust . The 430 was a dream to ride . With a proper knobbly tyre on the back , by way of Maxxis Enduro , and a radiator fan installed , it would appear I have ironed out the issues I ’ ve had with the 430 since buying it . We managed about 50 kilometres of riding on the Saturday , was nothing all that hard , but by around 2pm we were absolutely spent ... and decided it was time to head back to town , for a feed and a hot pool to soak in .
DAY TWO Sunday dawned early , much the same as the previous day , crisp and clear , perfect conditions for trail riding . Both bikes were still on the trailer where we left them ( which is always a relief ), looking like they had seen some action . We refuelled both the bikes and ourselves and got ready for another big day ... Dad-Bod Racing were raring to go . Looking at the map , there are a massive amount of trails at this event . Far more than I think any normal person would be able to cover in a day . So , we picked a couple of harder break-out loops , looking for some tight stuff and a bit more of a challenge . We swapped bikes for a bit during the morning , and I was surprised just how light and nimble the two-stroke 300 Racing was in comparison to the
