He was hooked , for life - to motorcycles , and his best girl , Denise . He ’ d learnt to handle a bike well by riding motocross with his brothers on Mangere Mountain where they were dodging boulders on two-metre-wide tracks inside the crater , with mad 90-degree death-turns at the rim , featuring a high probability of fatality or serious maiming , if they misjudged . He rode a succession of top dirt bikes over the next few years . A Yamaha ATMX 125 two-stroke , a Honda CR125 - the famed Elsinore model - and one of the legendary Suzuki RM250s that put new blood into the MX sport . The single consistent feature ? They are all very good-looking bikes . The man has a great eye for beauty .
