Visually , the new Tiger takes design cues from the existing Tiger Sport 1050 , with a twin headlight arrangement and smooth integrated fairing and decently sized windshield to boot . At its heart will be , of course , the 660cc inline triple-cylinder engine from the Trident and Street Triple 660 , which , in the form of the Trident , is good for 53hp and 57Nm in its LAMS guise - currently the only version of the platform available in the New Zealand market . Overseas the Trident engine in its unrestricted guise pumps out a healthy 80hp and 64Nm which would come in handy for a bike aimed at the touring segment here . Time will tell what the final specs of the new Tiger 660 are and if , like the Trident , it will be available as only a LAMS motorcycle here in New Zealand .
However , Triumph isn ’ t forgetting about its big-bore Tigers either with the release of the first images of the upcoming Tiger 1200 replacement , and man what a different bike this is going to be ! Taking its design cues from the Tiger 900 , the new 1200 has gone on a serious diet and really hit the gym with what appears to be a renewed focus on the dirtier side of adventure riding . Triumph says the new 1200 has been designed to deliver the new ultimate large-capacity adventure ride , with the bike set to bring every advantage to the table . Now significantly lighter than its closest competition , with an astonishing transformation in weight , the new 1200 will combine the triple powered engine advantage with a new dimension in classleading agility , control and handling . We can ’ t wait to see more of this one !
