PRODUCT REVIEW
know what’s going on under you, but it’s not
brutal, I’m not talking Princess and the Pea here.
You’ll feel the cat’s eye when you run over it, but
it won’t realign your spine.
Another feature which will build confidence
for some is the fact Continental doesn’t use a
releasing agent in the tyre moulds. You know
how the mechanic always says “Take it easy for
the first 100 or so km” when you ride away on
your new hoops? That’s because in the
manufacturing process, many brands coat the
mould in a lubricating release agent to make
getting the newly cured tyres out easier. This
agent stays on the new tyres and makes them
slippery when you ride on them, until it’s
scrubbed off. Not so on the Continentals. I’m told
they’re good to go from new, though I was still a
bit ginger for the first few roundabouts.
I’ve had the tyres on my trusty Yamaha MT-07
for little over four weeks now. And I’ve had the
opportunity to do a few good “attack runs” over
the Wainui hill. Although they don’t come with
quite as much fanfair and ‘street cred’ as some
other brands on the market, I’m pleased to say
they’re good tyres. I’ll let you know how they’re
looking from a longevity standpoint once the
kilometres start racking up and I can get out on
some bigger trips. But, so far, I’m more than
happy with them.
