RIDING RIDING OPINION # 1 The most obvious thing about the Tuareg 660 is the dirtbike layout . It has a flat seat that ’ s not too high , tall wide bars and an ergonomic package that feels big dirtbike-ish whether sitting or standing . There is a decent 9.5 inches of travel at each end that is fully adjustable . Of course , there are creature comforts to suit a pukka adventure bike , but the business-like stance remains . Open the throttle and the real fun starts ... providing you ’ re not in one of the ‘ nana ’ modes . The electronic adjustments are varied and plentiful . The engine is fun and responsive with decent top end . Sliding on gravel is just a throttle twist away . The steering is light and accurate with a positive , agile feel . The suspension feels firm and well-behaved , hinting at real offroad capabilities which I ’ m yet to sample . Even the seat feels dirtbike firm , which may not bode well for long term touring comfort - time will tell . Early days , but the Tuareg sure has me excited for more ! JOCK MCLAUCHLAN
