A Word From Mitch Rees “ I chose to go down the Tech-Air route to minimise the chance of injury , and I ’ m glad I did . It saved my life ! I ended up in the wall at 199km / h and added a bunch of injuries to the list so far . The added scars are : Broken C2 neck fracture , perforated diaphragm , collapsed lung , internal movement of stomach and bowel through a rupture in my diaphragm into the lung cavity , broken ribs T10-12 in spine and being knocked out for around ten minutes . Had it not been for the AlpineStars Tech-Air system , I simply wouldn ’ t be alive .” So , thanks to the new era of crash protection , Mitch Rees is back up and running , back on a
bike and keen to get back in amongst it .
On The Road All hype aside , here is my way of looking at this gear : If you part company with your bike unexpectedly and a genie appeared whilst you are mid-flight ( also known as a crash ) and that smartarse genie whipped out an eft-pos machine and said “ swipe here and the new AlpineStars Tech-Air system will be fitted and it ’ ll activate before you hit the deck ”, any hesitation will disappear as magically as the genie appeared , yes ? Well , sorry , there are no genies . It is a ‘ paying things forward ’ deal . It is a proactive prevention thing . How much do avoidable injuries cost ? It is often way more than you ’ d like to think , particularly in the long term .
