It seems that punters have waited , wet with anticipation , ever since Aprilia announced it was building the RS660 a few years back . I thought then that it was going to be a game changer in the often over looked middleweight road sector . Predicted to be lighter , faster and with higher levels of technology than the opposition , it was easy to understand the excitement the upcoming RS660 generated . And , also built with Aprilia ’ s ever-present , dual high-performance and high-quality focus , it would most likely be a winner . So , when Publisher Vege McPhee rolled the 660 out of his van – I ’ ll have to admit , it looked the absolute goods . There is no denying it looks just like a mini RSV4 … perhaps the coolest looking and sounding production sports bike on the planet ? Aprilia says the RS660 is designed to excite on the road , and happily perform well at the occasional track day . Frankly , I ’ d say the Italians from Noale have nailed it .
REAL WORLD ERGONOMICS Casting a lazy eye and then a leg over the Aprilia , I first noticed an excellent build quality ; it looks brilliant , polished , edgy and very business-like . Surprisingly , considering the RSV4 looks , the handlebars are not super low , clearly set at a height that aids normal road riding
