5 . Check your gear If your riding jacket or pants have any tears or holes , then it might be time to replace them .
4 . Helmet Helmets have a recommended life span , and if yours has had any knocks , dents or scrapes , its expected life span can be reduced .
3 . Check your oil Some motorcycles have a sight glass low down on the side of the engine , some have a dip stick . If you don ’ t know , ask a mechanic or dealer . Or even just google it . It ’ s important .
2 . Brakes It ’ s a good idea to check your brakes . Visually inspect the discs and pads . If you know how , remove the caliper , take out the pads and clean the brake dust out from the inside . Before you go for a ride , test the brakes .

BOET VAN DULMAN
Former top Dutch 500cc Grands Prix ( MotoGP ) star , Boet Van Dulman has died . Emergency services were unsuccessful in resuscitating the 73-year-old after he was hit by a van in his home town of Ammerzoden on September 16 . One of a trio of top Dutchman racing in the premier class in the 1970s and 1980s ( along with Wil Hartog and the late Jack Middelburg )
Van Dulman won his only 500cc GP at the Imatra circuit in 1979 Imatra 500GP . With his characteristic upright riding style , Van Dulman attained four rostrum positions in his 500cc world championship career , always as a privateer . Former Motogp runner up , Kiwi Graeme Crosby said of Van Dulmen , “ He was a great guy … hard , a tough competitor , who kind of did his own thing .”
