TRIUMPH TIGER 1200 : WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR …

Triumph is on a teasing rampage at the moment , dripping out bitesized details of their upcoming 2022 range at a fast-paced rate . One of the more interesting bikes that seem to be getting the slow reveal treatment is the heavily updated Tiger 1200 . Here ’ s what we know so far .

T-Plane Crankshaft Like the Tiger 900 range , the new Tiger 1200 will make use of Triumph ’ s new T-plane crank for the big triple cylinder engine . According to Triumph , the new 1200 engine brings all of the low-down torque delivery of a twin , married to the top-end punch and an incredible soundtrack that only a triple can produce . The big triple is in of itself already unique in the segment but this new 1-3-2 firing order will take that a step further in terms of character and feel .
Lighter Weight The 2022 Tiger 1200 has gone on a serious diet with redesigned bodywork and chassis improvements . Triumph is claiming that the new 1200 is significantly lighter than its closest competition , with an astonishing transformation in weight . With the old models a bit on the heavy side with a high centre of gravity , this should be music to the ears of Tiger fans wanting the power of the big bore motor without all the weight .
The GOAT Likes It Triumph ’ s new man from the world of Motocross , Ricky Carmichael , is a fan of the new Tiger 1200 . Going by his reaction ( the man knows a good high-performance dirt machine when he sees it ), the new Tiger 1200 looks like it has what it takes to take Triumph ’ s large-displacement triple-cylinder engine into new territory . “ This thing is sweet ! I know a lot of time and effort has gone into this new 1200 , and it shows ”, Carmichael said , “ It handles phenomenally .” We should have more details in hand in the very near future .
