Triumph is on to a winner with the Tiger Sport 660 . Yes , I know I ’ m kinda getting ahead of myself here ... but that was my initial impression gleaned within just a few kilometres of riding away on the Tiger Sport . My only real reservation quickly sprung to mind as well - is it too good ( quick ) to be a LAMS bike ? While that might seem an odd thing to say in the bike world where generally more is seen as good , bigger as better and huge grunt is awesome , the reverse can also be true . But I ’ m truly ahead of myself ...

WHAT IS IT ? A quick walk around shows the 660 is targeted
at the entry level rider . While at a glance it ’ s very much a Tiger in the 1050 Tiger mould , and is not so different from the larger 900cc models , a closer inspection reveals the fourpiston Brembo ’ s aren ’ t there up front and a slightly lower overall spec is noticeable in keeping with the LAMS specification , and the very accessible $ 15,990 purchase price . That ’ s not to say the Tiger isn ’ t well built or nicely appointed , it definitely is , for example ... the full 3-into-1 exhaust is stainless steel . All the lights are LED and the indicators are self-cancelling . There is an on-the-fly hand adjustable , multiposition screen and the clutch has slip and assist functions .
