HIGHLIGHTS Most riders would agree the first highlight is how much fun the track is to ride , especially the section that twists and winds along the Alma River Valley . The second highlight would have to be the views . From certain vantage points you get outstanding views of the track twisting off into the distance and disappearing into the towering ranges . This is topped off by the stark colour contrasts of the brown grasslands and the vivid green trees dotted along the valley floor .
WHO THE ROUTE IS FOR This track is great fun for the seasoned rider , and because it ’ s a consistent Grade 2 throughout , it is also a great choice for newcomers to adventure riding . The main thing to note is that this route is in a remote area . For that reason , it should only be tackled by wellequipped riders , on reliable bikes , and ideally done as a group ride .
ACCOMMODATION There is no accommodation along the route itself , however there are camping or hut
options near the start and finish of the track . On the Rainbow Road side there is Sedgemere Sleepout , or Island Gully Hut . Both locations have a hut , and allow camping if the huts are full . On the Molesworth Track side there is Molesworth Cob Cottage Campsite , or Acheron House Campsite . Both offer just camping accommodation as the buildings are historic , and not for public accommodation use .
