BETA ALP 4.0 PRICING CONFIRMED

Beta NZ has announced pricing for its roadlegal dual-sport Alp machine . The Alp platform isn ’ t a high-performance dual-sport weapon , rather an approachable road-legal mountain goat designed to bring lightweight adventures to the dual-sport market that ’ s looking pretty bare after the introduction of mandatory ABS here in NZ . The Alp 4.0 is off-road focused wearing 21- inch and 18-inch wheels , so tyre options are are plentiful from full knobbly to road . At the heart of the bike is a 348cc DOHC single-cylinder developed specifically for the Alp in partnership between Beta and Tayo Motorcycles . Pushing out 35 horsepower at 9500rpm through a six-speed gearbox , the engine has a claimed fuel economy of 3.51 litres per 100km , so the 11-litre fuel tank should give the bike a range of around 300km . Pulling the Alp to a stop is a setup consisting of a 290mm front disc and 220mm rear , with Nissin brake cylinders and calipers doing the grunt work . With the Alp meeting our road-legal requirements , ABS is standard equipment . The Bosch ABS can be disengaged when the

Offroad map is selected , but like most systems is re-enabled whenever the bike is restarted to avoid the danger of forgetting to reactivate it . Dry weight is listed at 140kg and the Alp 4.0 should offer decently competitive performance for those looking for a dirt-oriented road-legal bike to explore the country on . Pricing has been set at $ 11,990 ( plus ORC ) for the Alp 4.0 and bikes will be available in dealerships from December .
