Walking through the door of the pavilion at the Hunting Lodge near Waimauku I was stopped in my tracks by the sight of the new Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello . It was so much better than the photos I ‘ d seen . I wasn ’ t expecting to be so pleasantly surprised . I ’ ve always liked the strong ethos of Guzzi ; solid , no fuss , good Italiano design , twin 90-degree opposed V- twin pots and heads . Shaft drive , butty pipes and headers . And a certain ‘ hunkered ’ quality . That ’ s the family look and it ’ s still there , but it ’ s a bit like those film stars you see where the family is okay looking , but that one member got hit with the fabulous brush .
