Harwood (KTM) was running in 11th early in
his Open Class qualifier and eventually settled
for 17th place. The Open Class qualifier was
dominated by flying Dutchman Jefferey Herlings.
With Natzke’s 23rd placing the result to be
discarded by Team New Zealand, the Kiwis
ended the qualification with 29 points, good
enough to be ranked 20th overall, although
only the top 19 teams qualify directly and it’s
the B Final race winner that earns the 20th
spot on the grid for Sunday’s main races.
It’s interesting to note that the team which
finished 19th in qualifying was Russia – Evgeny
Bobryshev, Ivan Baranov and Evgeny Mikhaylov
– their combined qualifying results just one
point better than the Kiwis, and they eventually
went on to finis
