Unobtainium...

There are some things you know you will get, and some things you know you will never get. At Christmas, given the fact you’ re into your sixties and it is impossible for anyone to buy you something unique or original, you know you will get socks and underpants. Which at the end of the day is of course very practical because you’ ll always need them. Or book vouchers... and again, you’ ll find something out there that you’ ll want to read. Again, practical... but not really exciting as being handed an envelope isn’ t the same as being handed a large, oddly-shaped container. But hey, you’ re getting something for nothing so no complaints. So yes, I know that the next time there is a hayfever-inducing small pine tree covered in lights sitting in the corner of the living room I shall be in for an exciting three-pack of grundies. A black pair, a white pair and a grey pair. But at the other end of the“ things you’ ll get and things you’ ll never get” scale is the only motorcycle I have ever seen that threatens the MV Agusta F4RC for absolute drop-dead gorgeous lines and eyewatering power... the MV being the desire of my life, which I know I will never get because my income is modest and my savings are equally modest. And now I can add the Ducati Panigale V4 1409 to the“ I’ ll never get one” list... which takes the“ list” to two. This motorcycle is quite simply stunning and I have a picture of it on the wall now... beside the MV. What the hell are those Italian designers drinking late into the evenings to come up with breath-taking lines like that? Whatever it is I’ d like a barrel of it, please. Well, ok, add that to the list( now up to three) of“ things I will never get”.
