on the fly , just close the throttle to confirm the mode you ’ ve selected . The two off-road modes need the bike to be stationary to select them , which I find a little annoying . It ’ s probably some EU directive-led , but annoying all the same . I guess the Europeans don ’ t have the sheer volume of dirt roads that we do , which swap between seal and gravel often . The dash display is big , easy to read and not affected by sunlight too badly when it ’ s clean , although it gets watermarks on quite easily , making it harder to read in direct sunlight . Navigating through the dash functions is through the home button and the joystick-style select button that sits underneath the indicator switch . It takes a while to figure out which buttons do what but is ‘ reasonably ’ intuitive . I ’ ve not figured out how to have the trip meters or distance to empty displayed without having the rev-counter / speedo shifted off to one side , and I ’ m not sure it can be done . I ’ ve been through the manual a couple of times and it still eludes me . Triumph , if you ’ re reading this , can you make this a thing ? It ’ s annoying . If it can be , sorry , just tell me how . Thanks .
I ’ m really enjoying the way the suspension can be dropped by 20mm by pressing the home button . It ’ s particularly handy when the pillion gets on or off , so both my feet are flat on the floor . It stays down until the bike hits 80km / h and then goes back up . When you come to a stop again the home button has to be pressed again , which gets repetitive - I ’ d like it to stay down until I decide it should go back up . It ’ s a little nit-picky , but the heart wants what the heart wants . The Rally Pro doesn ’ t come with a heated seat as standard , but the heated seat button and the software to run it is all baked into the bike . This is great in the respect that you can just order one later and fit it and it ’ s all there ready to go , or purchase it as an accessory when buying the bike , but it bugs me that the button is there teasing me . The solution to this frustration is to buy the heated seat , it ’ s all plug and play - there ’ s no need to pay for the feature . And at $ 545 inc GST it seems like a no brainer . And it ’ s only $ 479 if you want to pamper your pillion too .
