YOUNG KIWIS RACING ACROSS THE DITCH .
Three intrepid young Kiwis ventured across the Tasman to contest the 300 Supersport class at a round of the ASBK Nations . While the results weren ’ t quite where they were hoping , because racing is racing and anything can happen , they acquitted themselves brilliantly . Tyler King ( 18 ) had a fairly inauspicious start , crashing in practice on his third ever lap of the circuit . That was all the time he would get until the lights went out for the race . To his credit , he finished sixteenth out of forty-one starters , kept a cool head and identified some setup tweaks for the next race . Race two had the Aussie commentators flummoxed and questioning the timing tech as King carved through the field and set the quickest lap-time of the race on his way . A hardfought race and the finish was a slipstreaming lottery as a bunch swept over the line . King was seventh – but so close . Nixon Frost ( 14 ) also had his challenges , crashing out at 180km / h on the third lap but he picked himself up , dusted himself off and got back on to finish . In those first three laps , and even after the crash , he showed he has the ability and sheer speed to go toe-to-toe with the front-runners , so despite not getting the hoped for results , he has learned a whole bunch and his Dad , Sloan Frost , who travelled over with the lads , was stoked with his attitude . Alvin Wu also put in a good weekend and was just grateful to experience the level of racing and acquitted himself well with solid results and a fantastic learning experience . The plucky trio are back home assaulting the 300 Supersport class here with a sharper than ever skillset . Andy McGechan
