MAKE IT EASY
Some bikes have huge brake discs which get in the way of checking pressures ( and pumping them up ), so consider asking your fitter to install 90-degree valve stems when replacing your tyres . They make the job of checking a heap easier .
A puncture repair kit is a good investment ( this is a kit for tubeless tyres ).
REGULAR MAINTENANCE
A racer knows to check his tyres every time the bike is ridden . But it ’ s all too common for a road rider to find their bike ’ s handling is deteriorating and the first thing to check is the bike ’ s tyre pressures – too low and the steering may feel heavy and ponderous . Too high and there will likely be reduced grip . If you ride regularly then checking once a week should be enough . Make it part of your riding routine , you ’ ll get the maximum mileage and grip by doing the job . Get yourself a coffee as a reward for keeping on top of things , it may just help to make checking your tyres a habit .
Adjusting your pressures to take account of the load is important to keep the handling right
