I
n the last dirt issue of KR I tested Beta’s
RR480 Enduro race machine. If you’ve
read that you’ll know I absolutely loved
it, it’s a top-drawer, big-bore off road
bike, that I thought would make a great
adventure bike. Well, it looks like the savvy
top brass at Beta NZ were thinking along
the same lines, and have been planning
a few alterations to the enduro-specific
RR480. This is to make it more suitable for
road, trail riding and exploring duties –
adventure riding even some might say?
Of course, putting on the full road legal
equipment that will come as standard,
as well as Rego and WOF goes without
saying. At this early evaluation stage, only
the stock gearing has been changed
to make it substantially higher for road
travel. This is the spec for the bike when
we tested it, but there are plenty of parts
available from Beta to make it more suited
to bigger distances – more on that later.
