AMA SX’S RETURN PACKS IT IN
W
ith a lot of racing to catch up on, the
AMA SX Championship returned with
a bang on May 31st in the first of seven
rounds to take place at Utah’s Rice-Eccles
Stadium in Salt Lake City.
At the long-awaited return of the AMA SX
championship, one man reigned supreme
over the rest of the pack in the flurry of races
taking place at Utah’s Rice-Eccles Stadium
– with Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac taking victory in
both Round 11 and Round 13 in the 450 class.
However, after a sleepy start to his SX return,
KTM’s Cooper Webb fought back to steal
the top step of the podium at round 11 the
following Wednesday.
In the championship standings, it is still
Tomac’s show with the Cortez rider leading
the championship by a comfortable 26 points
going into round 14.
The 250SX class has been a much harder
fought battle in the opening rounds of the
season restart.
