Blake Wilkins, placed 3rd expert last year
we are expecting anywhere between 80 to 120
riders in the senior race and 40 to 60 juniors”,
Clarke says.
As for conditions at Ohakuri, there is a bit
of everything to keep the challenge of cross
country racing alive.
“There’s a bit of pumice there, but it’s got a bit
of everything. It’s got clay, its got black soil and
the pumice. It’s got all three and when it rains
it’s muddy as, but that’s just the way it goes.”
With Covid19 putting many events on the
back burner this season, there was some
uncertainty whether 2020 would see the
Dirt Guide Series’ return.
“We’ve cancelled events in the past due to
bad weather and all that, but with the Covid
thing, we were stuck waiting for it to clear up
and luckily it did. So it’s all go.”
So it’s business as usual for the Dirt Guide
Series. Following this weekend’s opening
round, the series returns again on July 18th
and August 15th, again at Ohakuri.
