free . The cylinders are Nickel Silicon Carbide coated , just like high-tech big bro , the Fireblade . This is all manageable via the three default power modes of Rain , Standard and Sport , to cover the basic settings . As well as those , there ’ s a User mode too . Three levels of Engine Power ( EP ) with wheelie control , Engine Brake ( EB ) with clutch slip assist , and HSTC ( Honda Selectable Torque Control ) are available . This User mode allows the rider to personalise a combination of the settings and save them for their best use . Adjustments are via the handle mounted switch blokes and easily followed on the clear TFT screen .
With the engine set to deliver full power and the traction control ( HSTC ) off , I ventured north then headed west down Woodcocks Road and , wow , did the Honda come alive in these twisty , traffic-free conditions ! Never before have wheelies come more easily in a controlled way on a mid-sized road bike . Don ’ t get me wrong , very powerful bikes can get the front up no worries , but effortless , precise control from there on can take a well-balanced chassis and a highly educated , well-tuned right wrist ! Not so with this Honda . Its ability to knife in to a turn at the slightest provocation , then loft the front in a controlled wheelie on exit is awesome .
