means . What I can tell you is that even deliberately ham-fisted four-fingered clutching will get you off the line and shifting through the gears with absolute aplomb . Never has a smoother rider taken off from my local traffic light . Aiding that smoothness is the lowend , but it ’ s in the midrange iwhere the Daytona absolutely sings . Gloriously . Keep it there with some fairly dextrous shifting and it ’ s a lot of fun . Electronically limited down to 57 horsepower from the full power 95hp edition , the top end is where that reduction can be felt most , and is a noticeable low point in performance . Still , a 190km / h top speed seems plenty . Therein lies the purpose of LAMS after all , to ensure my profound stupidity doesn ’ t get out of hand . Also limiting my stupidity are the excellent twin-disc , four-piston front and single-disc , single piston rear brakes , complimenting the sportsbike-sized tyres on the front and rear . Going back to my skinny tyre ’ d , non-ABS daily rider felt almost dangerous . It ’ s amazing how quickly we get used to technology and performance .
ERGONOMICS Little winglets bolted to the subframe near your ankles allow you to grip the bike firmly there , alongside your thighs , which makes for an incredibly stable mount for all your best GP-racer impressions . The bars are ‘ racey ’ but not ‘ constant wrist pain racey ’, and I felt none of the discomfort long rides have instigated on other sports bikes . I especially enjoyed the nice fat rear brake setup . Rigid , tactile , and completely capable of being stomped on . A vast improvement on the piddly foot brakes
