Power 6 boots it comes with . There ’ s no IMU to cheat things for you , and perhaps we ’ re all getting a bit spoilt by tech wizardry . I do like a quickshifter , but my bikes ’ gearbox and powerplant were beautifully mated and there was bugger all call for it . But it is an aftermarket add on should you want it . Road , Rain and Sport settings are the standard configs . And I do like the Triumph TFT screen offering at this level , it ’ s clear , well coloured and simple to use tucked away under the effective windscreen . No sun reflection issues that I saw . It reads easily and is intuitive to operate , a blessing that some others could well emulate .
ART , PACE AND SHEER JOY I enjoyed time on this bike very much , there was a
constant level of surprise and pleasure . In delivery , I think Triumph has correctly read the market , with a light , able , easily rideable sport bike with a killer powerplant , that looks the part , will keep you safe , and sounds like a million bucks . Is it a true iteration of the racing Daytona name ? No . It ’ s not a twitchy , fire-breathing , bucking bronco , dragged away from the track to scare you and your insurance company silly . But it should satisfy your urge for the art , pace and sheer joy of riding a bloody nicely finished , powerful , modern classic sportbike , well . It ’ s plenty quick when you want it to be , will howl with joy when working through gears in the tight , but will cruise just as happily . Did I mention you can look at it for hours ? Pretty damn good . PETER ELLIOTT
