Yep . This is a modern Triumph , it was obvious and pleasing the moment I hitched my ankles up a little higher , and my knees notched into the nacelles flanking the tank . A little flick of the start button , a flex of the clutch and it sprang into instant purring life , the tiny stub exhaust below my right foot sweetly sending warmed air into the crisp morning . Barely a ‘ tump ’ as I engaged first , and that delicious triple was gliding me on the road . A silly grin appearing on my face . First impressions . Very pretty to look at - refined , smart compact , slick , worthy of that legendary moniker , Daytona . Finish ; among the very best . Oh , it ’ s light , 200kg , give or take , wet . Nimble and sweetsounding , I was off to the motorway to party . I ’ ve owned the 1050 Speed Triple , and a few more in the marque , so my heart is on my sleeve here - yes , I have a natural bent for 21st century Triumphs .

WELCOME TO THE FLEET This bike is an excellent addition to the play fleet . Stopping power is superb with two 310mm fourpiston discs up front , bolted to upside down 41mm Showa Forks . Listed as Separate Function and BP for Big Piston , these forks dealt very well with my 105kg weight , pretty easily . “ Separate Function ” ( and I assume this tech is coming from dirt bike advances ) means damping in one fork and a spring in the other , balanced out when the axle and triple clamps join them . Ok . There is only rear preload adjustment however , and I left it standard . I was snug but comfortable at my 183cm . The seat is pretty comfortable , without the ‘ grabby ’ nature of some . Ground clearance of 810mm at the seat is pretty user-friendly too , and should suit the majority of riders . Looking a little deeper beneath the fairing , the stainlesssteel headers leading into that super sweet exhaust , give a nod to the top-end delivery quality . The bar layout and screen plinth in the fairing is actually beautiful , ergonomic and pleasing to the eye with real practicality .
FULL POWER Previously I rode the LAMS 660 version , at the launch , and although it had pleasing features
