KIWI RIDERS
What kind of riding are you into ? “ I usually do day rides at the weekend or long distance rides - l go out for 800 or 1000km weekend rides all over the South Island . I ’ ve done quite a few rides to Auckland from Christchurch and back on the Pan European . I ’ ve done about 50,000km on that in the last five or six years . “ I do a Ride Forever gold course every year and I usually do a track day at least once a year too . The track days are always good fun , especially on the Pan European , because people think ‘ what the hell is that ’ as it passes them I enjoy doing the Ride Forever courses because I always pick something up . I think I ’ ve been through all the instructors in Christchurch and most in Invercargill ! “ I ’ m a member of the Chatto Creek Motorcycle Club and I did their track day at Levels Raceway earlier this year which was a great experience . I took my Bimoto round Teretonga Park in Invercargill and that was quite an experience . It was pretty impressive to take a 90s superbike and absolutely wring it out down the main straight . I got to about 230km / h which was a bit of a shock when you come to the end and start braking and realise how good the brakes actually are .”
What do you love about riding ? “ Getting away from it and being able to switch off . It ’ s a release from the stress of work . I enjoy adventure riding and I ’ ve ridden most of the tracks all over the South Island . You can see some incredible scenery on pretty deserted roads and get out there and enjoy it .”
