ROAD NEWS VESPA 946 CHRISTIAN DIOR S ince its founding in 1946, Vespa has been an icon of European style and likewise so has the Christian Dior fashion brand, though the latter is probably more in our consciousness for bizarre artsy advertising. Nevertheless, the two have teamed up with a special edition Vespa 946 complete with stylish Dior luggage and accessories. Strictly a limited edition affair, the Vespa 946 Christian Dior is set to launch in the European spring of 2021 through Dior boutiques around the world and subsequently in a selection of Piaggio Group’s Motoplex stores. While it is currently unclear as to whether we will see any make their way down under as Vespa is privately imported by Salero Holdings. A contemporary version of the iconic Vespa 946, the new model was designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, Creative Director of Dior women’s collections. The scooter is made in Italy, adhering to the exacting standards, commitment and precision of a couture studio. Echoing the design of the saddle, a top case patterned with the Dior Oblique motif – designed by Marc Bohan way back in 1967 – is specially designed to be fixed on the luggage rack, adding a distinctive allure to the limited edition 946. A helmet adorned with the same iconic motif rounds out the unique range. 18 KIWI RIDER
