ROAD NEWS SUPERLEGGERA UNLEASHED T he first of Ducati’s latest Superleggera hyper-sport machines has rolled off the production line at the Italian firm’s Borgo Panigale plant. Built as a limited and numbered series of 500 motorcycles, the new Superleggera V4 is the only motorcycle in the world approved for road use with a carbon fibre frame, swingarm and rims. While most of us will have to settle for the Lego Panigale V4, the Superleggera V4 takes Ducati’s superbike and dials up the performance to category-leading levels. Each of the 500 numbered units is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity while the progressive numbering of the motorcycles (e.g. 001/500), coincides with the chassis number and is shown on the steering head, and on the ignition key to prevent the owner from forgetting just how special their machine is. Out of the box the Superleggera V4 is equipped with a Racing kit: complete exhaust for Akrapovič racing track use in titanium; open clutch cover in carbon fibre; swingarm cover in carbon fibre with titanium “slider”; headlamp and light replacement kit; license plate holder removal kit; side stand removal kit; mirror replacement aluminium caps from billet; Ducati Data Analyzer + GPS (DDA + GPS); racing fuel cap, brake lever protection, motorcycle cover; front and rear stand and battery charger. The first of the lucky owners of this fantastic bike has been invited to Borgo Panigale for a delivery ceremony and, in the next few days, he will personally meet Claudio Domenicali, Ducati CEO, to receive his Superleggera V4 001/500. Along with the already exclusive nature of the Superleggera V4, Ducati is also offering experiences together with Ducati Corse, which are exclusively reserved for the owners of the new Superleggera in the “Superbike Experience”. On offer is the possibility for race fans who purchase a Superleggera V4 to be able to try out the Panigale V4 R that takes part in the SBK World Championship on track at Mugello. Adding even more exclusivity to the ownership experience, Ducati is also offering just 30 owners the opportunity to purchase access to the “MotoGP Experience”, which for the first time will give civilian riders the chance to ride the Ducati Desmosedici GP on the circuit, followed directly by Ducati Corse technicians. Both “Experiences” have been confirmed for 2021. 16 KIWI RIDER
