ARAI
O
ver the last four months I have been
running the Arai VX-Pro4 helmet in
the Frost Black colourway. I chose an
Arai as they are well known for being
a top quality helmet throughout the
motorcycling world. Looking around
at mo torcycling events I noticed that
not many people run Arai helmets,
so wanting to be a little different
I arranged to buy one for this coming season.
Over the course of the last four months I have
been doing a lot of riding and had some big
crashes coming away unscathed every time – no
sore head, no neck pains, nothing. With other
helmets having crashes like I’ve sometimes
come away with pulsing headaches or a strained
neck. I know every crash is different, but I’ve
had no crash side-effects with the VX-Pro.
I find the VX-Pro fits my heat perfectly and the
comfort level is top-notch. The paint work looks
awesome on this Frost Black edition. Unlike other
matte black helmets I’ve had, the Arai doesn’t scratch
up easily. I’ve fallen off on a gravel road and landed
face first with the Arai but it only suffered a few
barely, noticeable scratches. Also, when falling face
first you usually break the peak and peak bolt, but the
Arai has a flexible, but sturdy, peak and all that was
broken was the peak bolt which is easy to replace.
Air flow from the close-able vents is really good,
perfect for summer riding and racing – it keeps
my head really cool. Another thing I like is it’s easy
to drink from my hydration pack as there’s loads
of room to get the mouthpiece up under the
chin-guard – unlike other helmets I’ve used.
Like I said earlier, not a lot of riders use Arai and
have never tried one on. Anyone whose worn mine
has been amazed at the fit and comfort. This is an
extremely good helmet with all the features you
would look for when dirt riding. It’s a premium brand
and product so the helmets aren’t cheap – probably
why you don’t see as many in the paddocks. It’s
expensive but it’s the best helmet I’ve ever worn.
