(slightly) and more blood-curdling models, namely
the Aprilia Tuono and the KTM 1290 Super Duke,
but I think the S1000R is the nicest of the lot for all
round, everyday riding. There is an effortlessness
of use, an easy sophistication about the inline-four
engine that just makes the BMW a more relaxing
ride, despite the fact that it is still very quick. It really
is hard to argue with an engine that will doddle
along in stop-start traffic with the ease of a well-
mannered Vespa scooter and yet immediately
stab adrenaline directly into your veins with a flick
of the speed-shifter and a wee twist of throttle.
Even low speed wheelies are a joy because of the
effortless low down torque. Yes, this is a great
motor for real world riding in all of NZ conditions.
Great engine; has all
the fruit; huge fun
