There is no arguing that West Auckland ’ s Hamish Harwood , Papamoa ’ s Cody Cooper and Mangakino ’ s Maximus Purvis were the stand-out individuals at the motocross championship season opener , with Harwood winning five races , Cooper winning three and Purvis the remaining race . When the dust settled – and yes , it was hot , dry and dusty in Southland , unlike the rest of the country which was about to be battered by a cyclone – it revealed Harwood standing on top of both the MX1 and 125cc categories , with Cooper unbeaten in the MX2 class and on top of that podium .
