“ The best-laid plans can always go awry - that is just part of the adventure !” KTM NZ said in its announcement . “ When we consider the unique event that we have worked so hard to create for riders with the
KTM New Zealand Adventure Rallye over the past five years - we know that it is the right call to postpone the event to a time that we can 100 % deliver on the Rallye experience that riders deserve .” The 2022 event was set to explore the South Island once again with an adventure through the lower East Coast of the island . A relief for the team behind the event is that riders have been supportive of the call to postpone , as KTM ANZ ’ s Marketing Manager , Rosie Lalonde , explains : “[ It was ] a tough call , but the only one that we could make . And the riders have been super supportive ,” she told Kiwi Rider . “ For riders that are on the wait list for the event – they will stay on the wait list . Therefore we should be able to take some riders due to cancellations in the coming months – so some of those who had initially missed a spot should get one .” It ’ s not all doom and gloom , however . In lieu of running a full blown event , KTM New Zealand is backing local KTM hero and global KTM Adventure ambassador , Chris Birch , to host a pair of smaller alternative rides for the local KTM community to get in on . “ We felt that waiting another 12 months for some community adventure riding was way too long ,” Lalonde explained . ” Plus , those on the wait list may still miss out on a chance to do the Rallye – therefore we are excited to support Chris Birch with two Adventure Ride Out events , one South Island , one North Island .” The Adventure Ride Outs are smaller , three-day adventure rides , offering KTM adventure riders the same concept of the Rallye – riding with like-minded adventurers on some epic tracks !
