bikes ( one of the perks of working for KR ) I always felt at home getting back on my trusty MT . Being a LAMS bike , it lacks a little in outright power , but it always brought a smile to my face . There ’ s great torque that lets it pull nicely from pretty much anywhere in the rev range . It ’ s nimble and light , able to manoeuvrer easily in Wellington city traffic .
the long stretches of state highway , when I was mainly just mile munching , it would have been nice to have a slightly higher seat / lower pegs , and the ability to stand up and stretch my legs out . Sure , the MT-07 isn ’ t exactly made with long distance mile-munching in mind , but the bike is so good in so many areas , I needed to pick on something .
COMPLAINTS If I ’ m being really honest , I only have two complaints with the MT-07 . There ’ s the suspension as I mentioned earlier , but the second is the distance from the seat to the pegs . Although it ’ s comfortable for a short to medium length ride , I do feel a bit cramped in the knees on longer rides . Thinking back to that big Forgotten Highway trip , on
MT-07 REPLACEMENT Having owned an MT-07 for six years I can say it ’ s a great daily ride , and with some minor suspension adjustments , a pretty good weekend warrior too . If you ’ re not needing a LAMS model , there ’ s the rather raucous MT-07 HP , which comes with the full power CP2 motor , but they ’ re pretty rare and don ’ t come up for sale often .
