KIWI RIDER FEBRUARY 2018 VOL.1 | Page 64

Another day to explore the southern tip of the island might’ve been nice but we didn’t feel like we’d missed out. After spending a few days relaxing on Îlot Maître Island, we took the short flight to the Ile des Pins, just a 20 minute hop from Grande Terre. We had more two wheeled action there when we hired a couple of Yamaha BW scooters for a day, which was more than long enough for us to have a look around If you fancy a trip to New Cal, the airline servicing the island is Air Calin www.aircalin.com We hired the Triumph Street Triple from Nouméa Rider http://noumea-rider. lagoon.nc and our road trip was based on one we found online www.ncvoyages. com.au/new-caledonia-adventure-travel  64KIWI RIDER this small (15km x 13km) island in the sun. The scooters were hilarious, good for 65km/h downhill and barely 10km/h uphill. Another 100cc would’ve been good but they did the job for us perfectly. So did we enjoy New Cal? Hell yeah, it’s a beautiful place with some awesome roads, the people are friendly and it doesn’t take long to get there. One thing’s for sure, the memories will last much longer than the credit card debt.
