T hat’s the forecast after the Taupo man’s scintillating performance in the popular annual pre-nationals Suzuki Series, which wrapped up on Whanganui’s famous Cemetery Circuit on Boxing Day. Moir arrived at Whanganui with a slender seven-point lead over his two key rivals, Aucklander Daniel Mettam and Whakatane’s Mitch Rees, but he simply refused to let the pressure tell on him at this third and final round of the 2017 Suzuki Series on Tuesday. The 33-year-old Moir dominated the traditional post-Christmas race meeting, wrapping up the Suzuki Series’ premier Formula One class title and also celebrating a start-to-finish win in the coveted Robert Holden Memorial feature race.
