Graeme Crosby said the weekend was one of
those really cool events which recognises classic
motorcycles that have evolved in New Zealand.
“It also recognises a lot of the riders, and is a
really nice opportunity to get everybody together
again and actually bring out of the garage
those old bikes to flog around the circuit, it is
really, really cool and enjoyable,” Crosby said.
Crosby mentioned that one of the things he didn’t
realise 40 years ago is that there is life after racing
when you finish, and this year was a good example
of that when he met up with Wes Cooley at the 40th
anniversary of the Suzuka Eight Hour endurance
race in Japan, a major race both riders had won
in the past.
“After 40 odd years it makes it all worthwhile
getting on these old bikes and remembering
what it was like, a fantastic feeling,” he said.
Dunedin racer Rick Jamieson agreed that
it was all about the atmosphere at Levels,
