DIRT NEWS
WR250F Yamaha says the super-agile reverse-head 2025 Yamaha WR250F turns quicker , soaks up the rocks and roots easier and has a lower C-of-G to do so with better feedback and more confidence , thanks to a raft of well thought out modifications to an already competitive package . So , what are these mods ? Starting at the pointy end , the KYB suspension that was already a WR250 superpower has been reworked to lower the bike by 10mm , care of a slightly reduced stroke and revised damping as well as a seriously handy hand-adjustable compression damping control for tool-free adjustments while out on the trail or enduro loop . The new frame is a specialised derivative of the one used by the successful YZ250F but now sees the tank loop , which has a U-shaped rear section , lowered by 15mm to drop the centre of gravity and seat height , making the 2025 WR250F even more focussed in tight terrain without compromising stability at speed – at all . Polishing off the front forks are new heavy-duty dust seals so you can tackle any conditions that come along ... for longer . In between the wheels , the updated chassis has refined lateral flex zones to reduce rider fatigue by absorbing and deflecting the jarring of big hits
and making the bike more stable at speed . Following up at the rear , a new KYB shock runs 10mm lower to match the front and achieve a lower seat height and the rear wheel runs a new three-cross spoke rear hub and a new axle design to handle the torture while giving better feedback . There ’ s also a new , flatter , seamless-skin seat and slimmer radiator shrouds . In the engine room , the WR250F gets a new , wider camchain design and new sprockets to reduce friction losses . Breathing in is also improved with a new airbox design that draws through dedicated vents in the frame , side panels and tank . Breathing out is via a new shorty muffler designed , again , to centralise mass and enhance that stable-but-quick steering . Finally , the ECU has been fine-tuned for improved low-down grunt to seamlessly morph into the midrange and a betterbreathing top-end hit . Getting it all fired up is a new lightweight starter motor and diet-conscious lithium-ion high output battery for dependable starts time after time .
