KIWI RIDERS road names , knock on people ’ s house doors to ask for information , and go to local places . Then I ’ ll catch up with my riding buddies to do a group ride and treat them to a new route I ’ ve put together .”
How did adventureguide . co . nz come about ? “ I ’ d got the DRZ250 and jumped online to find some tracks for riding but I couldn ’ t find much . What I did find was either outdated or wrong . I ’ d go over to the West Coast from Christchurch and hit locked gate after locked gate , or find roads washed out . “ If I thought I was having this issue then other people are too , so I created the website to provide information to other riders . It ’ s been a labour of love for over a decade as I ’ ve personally researched , photographed , and mapped all the routes .”
What ’ s your favourite ride in New Zealand ? “ I ’ d probably say my Rocky Ridges route on the website . It ’ s an 11-day ride of free access stuff . It takes in some of the best riding , scenery , and camping that the South Island has to offer .” riding as well is mixing riding with fly fishing . I ’ m a huge fan . I can jump on the bike with my fly rod , set up camp , put on my boots and head up river . The motorbike can get me to places 4WDs often can ’ t , or is time consuming by foot , and so you get an undisturbed stretch of river perfect for fishing .”
Do you ride alone or with a group ? “ It ’ s a mixture . The majority of my riding for the website over the years has been alone , and that ’ s mainly because it ’ s very time consuming to do the research and documentation for a route . I have to stop , take photos , write down
