decent test of the bags ’ waterproofing . Having walked the river to start with , there were several parts of the river up to my crotch - that ’ s getting pretty bloody deep , certainly no room for error when riding . At one of the deeper points , I could feel the extra drag of the bags being pulled through the water , the whole of the 21-inch front wheel well under water . The outside of the bags was soaked , but the inner liners , and my sleeping bag inside , were totally dry . That ’ s always a good bonus at the start of a camping trip . I don ’ t mind saying that the Mt Frederick route was at the upper end of my abilities and I dropped the bike at low speed on multiple occasions - but the OS bags cushioned the fall of the bike and didn ’ t show any damage . Another plus . Two days of hard adventure riding , deep river crossings and plenty of rain showed the OS bags to be waterproof and decently drop resistant . If they don ’ t stay that way , then Kriega offers a 10-year warranty on them . They ’ re light too , probably the lightest of the setups I ’ ve tried so far , perfect for the harder adventure riding where you want your bike to be as light as possible . Yes , I could save weight by leaving the hip-flask of whisky behind … but nah .
