Going out for the second session I was really focused on the suspension . The 300SE is equipped with a 50mm KYB shock absorber at the back and a 48mm KYB closed-cartridge fork up front . I ’ m pretty particular about a bike ’ s bouncy bits , so was keen to get a feel for the KYB forks and rear shock in the slower , more technical going that we typically get with enduro . Jumping over a few logs and tyres , it didn ’ t take long for it to become evident that it performs very well , with a super plush feel to it . This is perfect for enduro use where the ability to soak up rocks and roots is more important than the ability to take big hits like a motocross machine . Away from the techy stuff , I got it out on some faster sections of track where it handled well , but found the rear end a tad harsh and the rear wheel seemed to not be tracking the ground all that well at higher speeds . I didn ’ t get a chance to play around with the clickers , so it ’ s quite probable that the harshness can be dialled out . A big bonus for the Sherco is all Factory Enduro models purchased before 30 / 09 / 2023 are in a Flash Sale with $ 1000 off and are eligible for a free Sherco Assert Dominance hard enduro accessory kit , priced at over $ 1200 . Consisting of an AXP ‘ Xtreme ’ 8mm bash plate with linkage guard , Barkbuster VPS hand guards ( Fluoro yellow ), Sherco radiator braces , front and rear disc guards , case saver and speedo protector , the kit is pretty comprehensive protection . Overall , I think the Sherco SE300 is a wellbuilt and thought out machine that , with a few suspension tweaks , I would happily take racing week in , week out . LIAM CALLEY
