must have used most styles of luggage out there . It started with a rucksack as a kid on my Yamaha DT50MX . Books for going to college , lunch on a big ride out , waterproofs if it looked like rain ( there was no such thing as Goretex back then ), sunglasses , warm hat etc ., everything got stuffed into that poor little bag . Next came tailpacks . They were great .

Nothing on my back and pretty cavernous . I could fit a week of gear in there for trips away - as long as one pair of jeans , a few pairs of underpants and t-shirts would cover the dressing situations . And , as it was mostly riding weekends I was heading away on , that was perfect . Tankbags have been handy too . The first tankbag I had was held on by four large round magnets , which grabbed onto the tank with four hefty ‘ thunks ’. Super easy to attach and remove . The main problem was making sure the material covering the magnets was completely clean with no bits of metal stuck to them - or the tanks would get badly scratched . Then along came plastic tanks .
