plates . They fit just perfectly . I ’ ve now got the option of the two side US10s alongside a US20 or US30 to strap on the rack depending on how much space I need .
INTO THE HIGH COUNTRY Luggage and fuel sorted , I got to Blenheim in time for breakfast and several cups of coffee . The ES700 was gently sipping away at the tank of fuel , so I put 5 litres into the Armadillo , which I figured would be more than enough to get through to St Arnaud as well as spend some time exploring . I ’ ve ridden the Molesworth many times on my ‘ 92 GS , something it ’ s very good at – that easy gravel cruising . In comparison , the ES700 is a lightweight racer – nimble , accurate , forgiving of bad line choices and line changes . It ’ s really quite a change ( as you might expect ). It ’ s not as comfortable as the Bavarian armchair , but it encourages exploration of sidetracks that tantalise . Getting to the Severn River bridge and the start of the Severn 4WD track , I was excited to use the extra suspension travel and have less weight to throw around . Although this is an easy track , the GasGas made it fun to pop the wheel over potholes and puddles – something the GS doesn ’ t like to do .

LIKES Lack of weight ; brakes ; overall ability

DISLIKES Seat height ; bars a little low for me ; Plastics lose their shine
