OUR BIKES

Like partaking in an enthusiastic summer session of craft beer , I ’ ve always found the sound of a well-vented Moto Guzzi to be somewhat intoxicating . It ’ s that heady mix of guttural growl and sonorous induction when more open pipes and air filters combine . The thing is , I didn ’ t own a Moto Guzzi , but my brother , Dene , had consistently sung the virtues of the now 100 year old brand and espoused the riding experience , having owned his Sport 1100 for some years . As such , from time to time , I kept a look out on Trademe in case a suitable model from the Mandello del Lario manufacturer took my fancy and could be added to the small collection of classics already in residence here . As I always seem to , I intended to seek out an example that would allow for a small amount of fettling ... to enjoy the process of enhancing some of the visual and mechanical aspects of the bike .

SANTA CAME EARLY And there it was , not long before Christmas 2021 , an example actually named after the town from whence it came ! A classic 80 ’ s NZnew , small-block V65 Lario that , finished in unmistakeable Guzzi red , looked every bit the
