CLAIM TO FAME:
The YZ360B was the cutting edge
of technology in 1975 when it in-
troduced the single rear shock that
is now ubiquitous – dubbed the
‘Monoshock’ – and the bike changed
the face of motocross. The other
manufacturers didn’t adopt the
single shock concept for another
five years.
Featuring magnesium, red titanium
head bolts, copious amounts of
drilling to reduce weight, an alumin-
ium fuel tank (held on with straps)
and a fibreglass airbox, the YZ360B
was effectively a ‘works’ bike that
the public could buy, if a dealer
recommended them. Less than 1000
YZ360Bs were imported to America,
and only 1459 in total worldwide, so
there won’t be many left today –
and they’ll command a premium if
you can find one. This one has been
