Pre-ordering is only weeks away for Royal

Enfield ’ s latest offering in their 650cc ( read LAMS legal ) range on a first in , first served basis . With a three-year unlimited km warranty and a matching three-year roadside assist warranty , the new model comes in five colourways and the scrambler styling is a nod to iconic race legend Eddie Mulder . That race was The Big Bear Run , described as the biggest , baddest race the Mojave Desert had ever witnessed . The event , won by a young ( as in 16 ) Mulder , saw 766 riders take up the challenge . No rules , no tech , just four hours and twenty one minutes of flat-out gut-busting racing on his 500cc Royal Enfield Fury . Of the 766 entrants , only 197 made it across the finish line . Even then , after a big off in a ravine that destroyed one shock , his ‘ bars and a header pipe , Mulder bashed it back into shape , raced the last couple of hours with one shock and set a record as the youngest ever winner – a record that still stands today . Eddie Mulder raced on skill , determination and gut instinct , a desert racing tale that is firmly embedded in the sport . The scrambler style , resplendent with number boards and a tidy two-into-one exhaust , are tributes to the man behind the tale and 64 years later , the man is part of the Royal Enfield family still . His famous saying ‘ In Gut We Trust ’ has been around in the desert scene ever since that day . The new Bear rolls on a 19-inch front and a 17-inch rear and has a kicked-up rear subframe to match .
