I found the riding position really
comfortable. It was a lot narrower through
the tank area making, it feel a lot more
familiar to me coming off a KTM.
After the test I found the answer to my
question to be yes. For a 250 motocrosser
it seemed to have a surprising amount of
torque of the bottom, which is one reason
I always have struggled to enjoy 250s.
Coming from an enduro background, I was
keen to see how it would cope with a bit
of riding in the trees. All-in-all I was pretty
impressed. Apart from the suspension being
a touch hard for roots, the rest was pretty
much faultless. In these conditions the power
off the bottom was really noticed, making
it an easy and really fun bike to ride.

The YZ250F is an awesome little bike. In
general, I found it very hard to fault and the
worst I can say is I don’t like the induction
noise from the airbox. That’s it. It’s fast, turns
well, has great brakes and ergonomics. Add
all this to Yamaha’s renowned reliability
and all the 250F is an excellent package

As summer gets closer and the rain
disappears, Yamaha has promised KR we
can get these bikes back for a more in-
depth look at them. In the meantime, many
thanks to Paul, Josh and Yamaha for a great
day out on these three fantastic bikes.
